29 April 2017, New York – Harvard University marked the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations with a Conference on "The Future of Health in Southeast Asia" held on 28 April 2017 at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. Over 150 participants attended the conference.

28 April 2017, New York – The Philippine Consulate General in New York in cooperation with world renowned publishing house Penguin Classics marked the centennial of Philippine National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin with the launch of Joaquin's The Woman Who Had Two Navels and Tales of the Tropical Gothic. This is the first time Joaquin's works are being published in the United States.
