{"id":9157,"date":"2020-08-27T09:34:03","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T13:34:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newyorkpcg.org\/pcgny\/?post_type=helpie_faq&#038;p=9157"},"modified":"2020-09-08T20:43:37","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T00:43:37","slug":"who-can-apply-for-a-philippine-passport","status":"publish","type":"helpie_faq","link":"https:\/\/newyorkpcg.org\/pcgny\/helpie_faq\/who-can-apply-for-a-philippine-passport\/","title":{"rendered":"Who can apply for a Philippine passport?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul><li>Only citizens of the Republic of the Philippines are entitled to a Philippine passport.<\/li><li>Former Filipino Nationals who are naturalized citizens of foreign countries are no longer entitled to use or renew their Philippine passports, having lost their Philippine citizenship (Commonwealth Act No. 63 of 1936)<\/li><li>Those who have acquired foreign citizenship by naturalization but have reacquired Philippine citizenship upon taking the oath of allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines in accordance with R.A. 9225 the \u201cCitizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003\u2033 may apply for Philippine passports, if they satisfy the requirements of R.A. 8239 \u201cThe Philippine Passport Law\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In the interest of national security, public safety and public health, a consular officer may refuse to issue a passport, restrict its use, withdraw or cancel a passport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In view of the need to determine an applicant\u2019s current citizenship, a consular officer may require an applicant to present a valid document of foreign residency i.e., a US Permanent Resident Card, US Visa, INS notice, etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Only citizens of the Republic of the Philippines are entitled to a Philippine passport.
