PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN NEW YORK OBSERVES

The Philippine Consulate General in New York wishes to remind all kababayan that it strictly upholds political neutrality at all times, especially this election season, by ensuring that its premises and all Philippine Government-owned property within its jurisdiction, as well as its social media platforms, will not be used for electioneering and partisan political activities.<\/p>

At the same time, the Philippine Consulate General in New York continues to respect the fundamental right of every individual to peaceably assemble to exercise their freedom of speech, as guaranteed by the Constitution.<\/p>

Supporters of candidates for Philippine elective positions, who are organizing or planning to organize campaign rallies and other activities outside the Philippine Center here in New York are requested to ensure that their announcements are properly worded so as not to unduly give the impression that the Philippine Consulate General has violated its own policy of political neutrality by allowing the conduct of such activities inside its premises.<\/p>

Kababayan are also requested to respect the prohibition on Philippine Government employees from engaging directly and indirectly in any partisan political activity.<\/p>

The Philippine Consulate General in New York assures kababayan its personnel will continue to discharge their duties in a professional and nonpartisan manner.<\/p>
