NEW YORK \u2013 The Philippine Consulate General in New York joins the Department of Foreign Affairs and all Philippine foreign service posts in supporting the annual 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW), which runs from 25 November to 12 December.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

This year, male personnel of the Philippine Consulate were asked to provide their insights on how they help create a world where men and boys are respectful toward women. \u201cRespect for women and girls must start with teaching and training one\u2019s self before it can be taught to others,\u201d said Deputy Consul General Arman R. Talbo. \u201cBeing mindful of our own thoughts, words, and actions is a good start.\u201d This entry, among others, will be featured on the Philippine Consulate\u2019s social media pages throughout the campaign.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThe Philippine Consulate General in New York is committed to respecting and protecting the dignity of our female personnel and female clientele,\u201d said Consul General Elmer G. Cato. \u201cWith the 2022 theme, United for a VAW-free Philippines, the Philippine Consulate seeks the support of the entire Filipino-American Community for the common pursuit to end gender-based violence,\u201d he further added.<\/p>

Personnel of the Philippine Consulate and those of the Philippine Center Management Board, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, the Philippine Department of Tourism, and the Social Security System wore orange masks to kick off the campaign, with orange being the official color of the movement.
