As part of its\nmonth-long commemoration of National Women\u2019s Month,\nthe Philippine Consulate General in New York, in partnership with the\nNational Innovation Council of the Philippines and Dream Bigger\nVentures, hosted a conversation with Filipina leaders in tech and business\non Thursday, 07 March, at the Philippine Center.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>

 <\/span><\/p>

Trade\nCommissioner Benedict Uy, in his opening remarks, welcomed the audience, which\nconsisted of young professionals in the tech, investment, business, and\nfinancial services sectors and members of the public. He added that this kind\nof engagement will be a regular program of the Philippine Consulate to\nencourage young Filipino-Americans to contribute to a dynamic innovation\necosystem.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

 <\/span><\/p>

Mr. Earl Martin\nValencia, co-founder of Plentina and Executive Member of the National\nInnovation Council of the Philippines (NIC), presented<\/span> the Philippine\nInnovation Act<\/span>, which adopts innovation as a\nvital component of the country\u2019s development policies to drive inclusive\ndevelopment and promotes growth and national competitiveness of micro, small,\nand medium enterprises (MSME). He said, \u201cFrom fragmented and disharmonized\ninitiatives, an enhanced national innovation system will further boost economic\ngrowth. <\/span>As the innovation ecosystem enabler, the government will drive more innovation outputs by providing more\ninnovation inputs through policy, financing, infrastructure, and culture. This\nrevitalized innovation ecosystem is the key to achieving a smart and innovative\nPhilippines \u2013 a productive, resilient, sustainable, and inclusive nation by\n2032.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>
