As part of its\nmonth-long National Women\u2019s Month commemoration, <\/span>the\nPhilippine Consulate General in New York<\/span> under\nSentro Rizal New York hosted<\/span> a book discussion on \u201cThe Hurricane Wars,\u201d the debut\nnovel by <\/span>Filipino national Thea Guanzon, <\/span>on\n08 March at the Philippine Center.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>

 <\/span><\/p>

\u201cThe\nHurricane Wars\u201d is a compelling narrative that intricately weaves the essence\nof Filipino and Southeast Asian cultural elements with the universal themes of\ncourage, resilience, and identity. Soon after its publication in October 2023,\nthe book swiftly became an instant New York Times Bestseller.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

 <\/span><\/p>

The\ntiming of the event was particularly significant as it <\/span>coincided with the celebration of\nInternational Women\u2019s Day.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

During his\nopening remarks, Consul General Senen T. Mangalile said, \u201cAs we explore the world created by Thea Guanzon and the\ntrials and triumphs of Talasyn, we also commemorate International Women’s Day.\nThis global celebration held every March 8 is a powerful reminder of the\nstrides we’ve made towards gender equality, as well as the challenges that\nstill lie ahead. It’s a day to celebrate the remarkable contributions of women\nto our societies and to acknowledge their indispensable role in forging a\nbetter world.<\/span>\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>
