font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>NEW YORK CITY, 11 August 2025<\/strong> \u2014 The Philippine Consulate General in New York (NYPCG) Dragon Boat Team clinched third place in the Asian Invitational Category at the 35<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York, a proud achievement in the team\u2019s maiden participation in the annual event.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">The festival, held on 9-10 August 2025 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, brought together nearly 200 teams, each with eight to twenty paddlers, for two days of exciting races and performances. The event is recognized as one of the largest dragon boat festivals in the US, drawing close to 2,000 paddlers and over 40,000 spectators annually.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cWe are honored to be the first Consulate General based in New York to participate in the NYC Dragon Boat Festival, which has become one of the country\u2019s most celebrated multicultural sporting events,\u201d said Consul General Senen T. Cruz and Minister Noel M. Novicio. Veteran dragon boat racers Pasha Fernandez, Ka Yee Wong, and Lucas Wong served as trainers and coaches, guiding the team in preparation for the competition.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">Dragon boat racing continues to grow in popularity across the United States, blending athleticism, teamwork, and cultural heritage.
