NEW YORK CITY, 02 <\/strong>September 2025<\/strong> \u2014 Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 316, s. 2017, which declared September of every year as Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANAMo), the Philippine Consulate General in New York marked the beginning of the month-long observance during its flag ceremony on 02 September 2025 at the Philippine Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., in his message read by Consul General Senen T. Mangalile, highlighted the Philippines\u2019 enduring identity as a seafaring nation whose history and progress have been shaped by the seas. The President emphasized that the country\u2019s strength, security, and sovereignty rest on effective maritime governance founded on foresight, stewardship, and solidarity.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In her video message, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro emphasized that the seas are the lifeblood of the Philippines, sustaining the country through challenges and driving it toward greater prosperity and development.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme, \u201cNagkakaisang Kapuluan, Panatag na Karagatan,\u201d<\/em> highlights the need to deepen awareness of the Philippines\u2019 maritime and archipelagic nature, foster unity and pride in protecting its maritime heritage, and encourage collective action toward a sustainable and secure ocean economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through its observance of MANAMo 2025, the Philippine Consulate reaffirms the Philippines\u2019 commitment to honor its archipelagic identity, protect its maritime resources, and strengthen pride in its seafaring heritage.
