NEW YORK, 29 December 2025<\/b> \u2013 The Philippine Consulate General in New York and the Knights of Rizal New York Chapter (KOR-NY) commemorated the 129th anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal\u2019s martyrdom with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Philippine Center in New York on 26 December 2025. The event brought together officers and members of the Knights of Rizal, and members of the Filipino community to honor the national hero\u2019s enduring legacy.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In his remarks, Consul General Sir Senen T. Mangalile, KGOR, highlighted the quiet moral courage consistently demonstrated by Dr. Rizal throughout his life, stating that, <\/span>\u201chis life challenges us to act with courage, even in silence, to love our country and fellow Filipinos, even when recognition is absent, and to do what is right even when no one is looking.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>

Consul General Mangalile further emphasized that Dr. Rizal\u2019s legacy was shaped by his disciplined pursuit of knowledge, commitment to ethical conduct, service to the poor, and firm belief in peaceful reform. He underscored that these principles continue to guide Filipinos overseas, reminding them that love of country is best expressed through integrity, responsibility, and sustained service to the community and the nation.<\/span><\/p>

After the wreath-laying, the Knights of Rizal conducted ceremonial rites including the conferment of knighthood to new members, and recognition of Knights who have shown exceptional commitment to upholding Rizal\u2019s ideals\u200b.<\/span><\/p>

The Knights of Rizal was established by Republic Act No. 646, and stands as the only civic and patriotic organization officially recognized by the Philippine government dedicated to preserving Dr. Rizal\u2019s legacy. Since its founding in 1911, the order has promoted Dr. Rizal\u2019s teachings through education and community service. Its members, known as Knights, are committed to embodying Rizal\u2019s principles of patriotism, integrity, and selfless service, ensuring that his vision for the Filipino people continues to inspire generations worldwide.<\/span>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>

The northeastern United States hosts several chapters of the Knights of Rizal including in New York (4), New Jersey (2), Connecticut (2), and Philadelphia (1* composed of a tri-state constituency). <\/span>END<\/b><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
