NEW YORK CITY, 16 April 2026 <\/b>\u2013 Consul General Senen T. Mangalile, accompanied by officials from the Consulate, the Mayor\u2019s Office for International Affairs, and the Mayor\u2019s Office of Immigration Affairs, visited several Filipino-owned businesses and dialogued with Filipino community members at a walk-about around the \u201cLittle Manila\u201d enclave in New York City\u2019s Queens Borough on 16 April 2026.\u00a0 The activity served to observe the 22nd Annual Immigrant Heritage Week declared by the New York City Government on 13-20 April 2026.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The walk-about enabled members of the Filipino immigrant community to meet officials from the Consulate and the Mayor\u2019s Office in their neighborhood and to share their concerns as well as their personal experiences in their place of business.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Filipino-owned businesses and Filipino community members shared concerns on immigration policies, community engagement, peace and order, sanitation, and ease of doing business. Representatives from the Mayor\u2019s Office also shared information on the services provided by the City Government for immigrants and business owners, particularly for micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The walk-about was the first such activity conducted by the Consulate, the Mayor\u2019s Office, and the Filipino community in New York City in recent years. It is part of the Consulate\u2019s efforts to bring both consular and City Government services closer to the community.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
