NEW YORK, 18 May 2026 <\/b>\u2014 In celebration of National Heritage Month, the Philippine Consulate General in New York successfully launched “Sculpting Culture,” a solo exhibition and book debut by Mindanaoan artist Kublai Millan. Consul General Senen T. Mangalile hosted the formal opening reception at the Philippine Center in New York, marking the commencement of the exhibition’s two-week run.\u00a0
<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The exhibition, which runs from 15 to 29 May, showcases a curated collection of Millan\u2019s masterpieces. Known across the Philippines for his massive, identity-defining public monuments throughout the southern region, Millan\u2019s New York gallery showcase offers an immersive look into his profound storytelling. Through raw textures, vibrant colors, and intricate forms, his work transforms raw materials into living traditions, reflecting deep indigenous roots and capturing the resilient spirit of the Filipino south.<\/span><\/p>

“This Center stands as our cultural home in the US Northeast, and tonight, it beats proudly with the heart and rhythm of Mindanao,” said Consul General Senen Mangalile as he welcomed guests with a traditional Visayan greeting, <\/span>“Maayong gabii kaninyong tanan.”<\/span><\/i> He noted that the phrase carries a profound wish for well-being, harmony, and a warm, open-hearted connection. “Cultural diplomacy thrives in a global metropolis like New York, and art remains our most powerful tool to build bridges across the world.
