NEW YORK CITY, 20 June 2026<\/b> \u2013 The Philippine Consulate General in New York, the Knights of Rizal, and the Ladies for Rizal jointly commemorated the 165th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony on 19 June 2026 at 5:30 PM at the Philippine Center lobby.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The program commenced with Consul Anna Guerra, Program Manager for Sentro Rizal, highlighting the vital role of the diaspora in preserving Filipino heritage, and noting that Sentro Rizal exists precisely to ensure that the language and values of the motherland thrive overseas. “Rizal was a global citizen who mastered multiple languages, immersed himself in foreign cultures, and excelled on the international stage, yet he never lost his roots,” Consul Guerra stated, urging the community to keep that patriotic flame alive in the New York tri-state area.<\/span><\/p>

To share a message on behalf of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, Supreme Deputy Pursuivant of the New York State, Sir Joselito Cayabyab addressed the gathering, with his message centering on KOR\u2019s commitment to civic service and patriotic leadership<\/span><\/p>

The highlight of the event was the ceremonial floral presentation before the bust of the national hero. The wreath was escorted and placed by a delegation led by Consul General Sir Senen T. Mangalile, Sir Joselito Cayabyab, Sir Rely Manacay, Sir Emmanuel Malasig, Sir Mariano Aquino, Sir Roger Alama, and Sir Dean Suba.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Following the wreath-laying, members of the Filipino-American community and various local organizations stepped forward to offer their personal floral tributes.<\/span><\/p>

In his keynote address, Consul General Sir Senen T. Mangalile emphasized Rizal\u2019s shared, relatable humanity over absolute perfection. He reminded the audience that Rizal was an immigrant, a student, and a traveler who faced the same anxieties and homesickness that many overseas Filipinos experience today. “It was not absolute perfection that defined Rizal, but his shared humanity,” Consul General Mangalile remarked. “His life serves as a powerful reminder that we do not need to be flawless to make a meaningful difference; we simply need a willing heart to serve our community.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
