11th Annual Philippine Graduation and Mentorship Program (PGrad) The Philippine Consulate General in New York reminds all that the registration for the 11th Annual Philippine Graduation and Mentorship Program for Class of 2024 is open until Wednesday, 17 April. All our kababayans who are part of the Graduating Class of 2024 across the US Northeast and have earned associate, bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees are invited to join in this ceremony to honor their hard work, dedication, and achievements. Attendees are encouraged to wear their caps and gowns, along with the colors representing their alma maters during the said ceremony. Held at the Philippine Center New York on 05 April, the event marked a milestone in promoting the richness of Filipino creative industries to a worldwide audience. FILIPINXT: A New Era of Philippine Fashion is envisioned as a platform for Filipino fashion designers to showcase their talent to the international market by staging a runway show in New York, one of the world’s fashion capitals. Spearheaded by Filipino fashion designer Bessie Besana and Filipino-American entrepreneur Rob Mallari-D’Auria, this initiative seeks to bridge Filipino creativity with international opportunities, emphasizing the Philippines' role as a burgeoning hub for fashion and art. FYLPRO is a distinguished leadership initiative that empowers exceptional Filipino Americans to enact positive change. It fosters a network of dynamic leaders committed to promoting the interests of the Filipino diaspora and participating in global dialogues on diversity and leadership. The event offered an invaluable chance for Filipino American youth to connect with FYLPRO members, alumni, and partners; discover FYLPRO's initiatives; and gain insights into the FYLPRO 2024 program. NEW YORK PCG SHINES SPOTLIGHT ON THREE FIL-AMERICAN WOMEN TRAILBLAZERS IN AN EVENING WITH DISTINGUISHED WOMEN The Evening with Distinguished Women is an annual event held by the Philippine Consulate General in New York celebrating the contributions that women of Filipino ancestry have made to the community-at-large. As part of its commemoration of Philippine National Women’s Month, the Philippine Consulate General in New York held “An Evening with Distinguished Women” on 21 March 2024 at the Kalayaan Hall, Philippine Center with the theme ““Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!” The annual event coincided with the celebration of Women’s History Month in the United States. In his opening remarks, Consul General Senen T. Mangalile noted the indispensable nature of the contributions of women to national development even as he highlighted some of the success stories in the Philippines that show women empowerment and gender equality. The Consul General acknowledged the energy, enthusiasm and dynamism of women in the Filipino diaspora, and gave particular mention to the exceptional women honored that evening who had excelled in their chosen fields in science, public service and education.
