[ADVISORY] Nor’easter Expected to Bring Strong Winds and Coastal Flooding to New York City and Other States in the US Northeast
The Philippine Consulate General in New York informs the Filipino community in the US Northeast that New York City has issued a Travel Advisory from 2:00 PM today, 25 September, through the morning of Sunday, 27 September 2026, as a nor’easter is expected to bring rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding. Other states in the US Northeast have issued similar warnings and/or advisories.
The National Weather Service has issued coastal flood warnings for much of the area’s coastline, with the greatest impacts expected on Saturday and Sunday. Strong winds may also bring down trees and power lines.
Filipinos in low-lying and flood-prone areas are advised to take necessary precautions and monitor official weather and local government advisories. Please allow extra time for travel and avoid walking or driving through floodwaters. Those living in basement or ground-floor apartments in flood-prone areas should be prepared to move to a higher floor if conditions worsen.
