PRESS RELEASE 18 August 2023 LEGO Creates Minifigures To Mark Philippine Milestone The iconic toy brand, LEGO, upon the initiative of the Philippine Consulate General in New York and Sentro Rizal New York, created limited LEGO Minifigures capturing the imagery of the 125th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence. On Thursday, 17 August 2023, Consul General Senen T. Mangalile officiallyb received the commemorative pieces at the LEGO Flagship Store at 5th Avenue, New York. The Philippine-themed Minifigures were turned over by store manager Jeffrey McAndrew and Filipino-American supervisor, Michael Jazmin. “As part of our continuing commemoration of our 125th Anniversary as a nation, we are happy that LEGO is paying homage to this Philippine milestone, thereby honoring the global Filipino,” said Consul General Senen T. Mangalile.  With its commitment to promote diversity and inclusivity, LEGO provided the unique opportunity to celebrate this landmark occasion. While these Minifigures are not available to the public, kababayan are invited to visit the LEGO Minifigure Factory at Fifth Avenue to create their own Philippine-inspired Minifigures. The festival was hosted by Historic Philadelphia, Inc. and in partnership with the Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on Asian Pacific and American Affairs.During the opening ceremony, Consul Ricarte Abejuela III welcomed the audience to the event in the pavilion of the Franklin Square Park. In his remarks, he thanked the Historic Philadelphia Inc., the Philippine Department of Tourism New York (PDOTNY), and Mutya Filipino Dance Company. PRESS RELEASE 09 August 2023 Sentro Rizal New York Brings Mars Ravelo's works to the U.S. East Coast In celebration of “Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa” (National Language Month) the Philippine Consulate General in New York and Sentro Rizal New York bring Filipino Pop Culture to the public through a mobile exhibit presenting the iconic works of a prolific writer, artist, and illustrator - who is often referred to as the "King of Philippine Komiks” - Mars Ravelo.This is the first time that a collection of Mars Ravelo’s works is being featured abroad.Launched at Bergenfield Public Library on Wednesday, 09 August 2023, the exhibit is entitled, “Pagdama sa Diwang Pilipino sa Pamamagitan ng Wikang Filipino sa Komiks” (Sensing Filipino Consciousness through Filipino Language in Comics). New York PCG Conducts Consular Outreach Activity In Albany, New York

PRESS RELEASE 07 August 2023 New York PCG Conducts Consular Outreach Activity In Albany, New York The Consulate General of the Philippines continues with its Consular Outreach season for 2023 by travelling to Albany, New York for its Consular Outreach service which was held from 05-06 August which benefitted nearly 150 kababayan. The consular outreach mission was a co-sponsored by the Kalayaan 1521 Council Inc. and the Alpha Phi Omega Alumni Association of Greater New York. The consular mission provided passport renewal, dual citizenship, and notarial services for members of the Filipino community in the Capital Region of New York State as well as surrounding areas. A total of 139 services were extended during the mission in Albany. Mr. Sol Kapunan of Kalayaan 1521 Council Inc, commended the Consulate Team for a job well done. “On behalf of the Filipino Community in Albany and the Greater Capital Region, we continue to support you all, our heroes from the Consulate. Press Release 01 August 2023 Philippine Consulate General New York Successfully Concludes 25th Paaralan Sa Konsulado The Philippine Consulate General in New York (PCGNY) successfully concluded the 25th annual “Paaralan sa Konsulado” (PSK) on 29 July 2023 at the Philippine Center, New York.Paaralan sa Konsulado is a joint project of PCGNY and the Association of Fil-Am Teachers of America (AFTA) Inc. that was started in 1998, intended as a summer workshop where Filipino American children, ages 6 to 15, get to learn about Filipino culture and heritage. For four consecutive Saturdays, children were taught conversational Filipino language, history, Filipino Values, Philippine dances, songs, art, and games.The children who took part in the current workshop presented colorful songs and dances learned during the duration of the PSK. Present at the culminating activity were the parents, past and present AFTA volunteer teachers, AFTA volunteer students, PSK alumni, and Consulate officials.  END Deputy Consul General Adrian S.
