Public Advisory: Temporary Suspension of Ballot Feeding Due to Technical Issue

Public Advisory 042-202222 April 2022 TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF BALLOT FEEDING DUE TO TECHNICAL ISSUE The Consulate General of the Philippines in New York informs the public that it had to suspend the ballot feeding at the Kalayaan Hall this afternoon after one of its Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) encountered a technical issue. The technical issue was encountered during the later part of the ballot feeding process when one of two remaining ballots got stuck inside one of the VCMs. It was witnessed by election observers who were present and was also captured on our live Facebook video stream. Although a secondary VCM is available, the Consulate decided to suspend the ballot feeding until it receives guidance from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) whether said VCM, which has not undergone final testing, can be utilized. Since a response from the COMELEC could not be immediately received due to the time difference, the Consulate has decided to just have the remaining ballots fed on the next scheduled ballot feeding on Monday, 25 April 2022. By then, COMELEC guidance would already have been given.

Public Advisory: On Alleged Insufficient Postage for Return Envelopes Containing Ballots of Overseas Voters in the United States

Public Advisory 029-202212 April 2022 ON ALLEGED INSUFFICIENT POSTAGE FOR RETURN ENVELOPES CONTAINING BALLOTS OF OVERSEAS VOTERS IN THE UNITED STATES The Philippine Consulate General in New York has been made aware of a social media post that is circulating alleging that a foreign service post in the United States had sent out election packets to registered voters containing return envelopes with insufficient postage. The said social media post claimed that as a result of the insufficient postage, envelopes containing ballots would not be delivered. The same post irresponsibly claimed undelivered ballots would be substituted. Unfortunately, said post did not provide any proof for us to look into said claim. We would like to assure our kababayan that election packets and the return envelopes containing ballots that were sent to them have sufficient postage. While we welcome the vigilance of kababayan in ensuring that the elections…
