Press Release 17 July 2023 Philippine Consulate General-New York and US Department of Labor Conduct Labor Rights Seminars in Pennsylvania New York, 17 July 2023 – The Philippine Consulate General in New York, in collaboration with the US Department of Labor - Wage and Hours Division (DOL-WHD), conducted two labor rights seminars in the State of Pennsylvania. The seminars were held as side events to the consular outreach missions in Elkins Park, PA on 15 July 2023, and in Lancaster, PA on 16 July 2023. The DOL-WHD sent a representative to each of the locations, who conducted a briefing on labor laws and labor market information to Filipinos who were availing of Post’s consular services.During the Consular Outreach in Elkins Park, DOL-WHD Public Affairs Liaison and Community Outreach Resource and Planning Specialist Elizabeth Zimmer-Mull gave a presentation in the morning and another in the afternoon with a total of 48 participants attending, while DOL-WHD  Harrisburg Field Office Wage and Hour Investigator Rocio Torres-Solano conducted the seminar in Lancaster, PA, with 31 participants attending. Press Release 17 July 2023 Philippine Consulate General New York Congratulates Filipinos for Winning Gold and Bronze in Math Olympiad New York. The Philippine Consulate General in New York extends its warmest congratulations to Francis Deinmel Legaspi and Luciano Armand Copok for winning the gold and bronze medal awards, respectively, at the finals of the 4th Copernicus Olympiad Mathematics Global Round held at Columbia University in New York on 13 July 2023.Francis, who is ten-years old, and Armand, who is fourteen years old competed alongside a hundred bright young minds from 22 countries in the global math competition held from July 9-13.  Both students travelled from the Philippines for the competition.The two winners were invited to speak at the Paaralan sa Konsulado (PSK), an annual activity hosted by the Philippine Consulate General in New York and the Association of Fil-Am Teachers in America (AFTA). PSK is a fun engagement event where children get to interact with one another and learn about their Filipino heritage. Press Release 03 July 2023 Philippine Consulate General in New York Introduces E-Payment Services to Enhance Consular Experience New York, 03 July 2023 – Consul General Senen Mangalile signed the Contract for the Electronic Collection of Payment Services with NMD Group Corp on 03 July 2023, to launch the Consulate’s new e-payment services, aimed at providing enhanced convenience and efficiency to the Filipino community seeking consular services. NMD Group Corp, a leading electronic payment services provider, was represented by its Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Norbell Domingo during the signing ceremony held at the Kalayaan Hall Annex of the Philippine Center.Starting from August 01, clients will have the option to make payments for consular services using credit and debit cards. This transition from cash-only transactions to electronic payments aligns with the modern financial landscape, making the payment process more convenient and secure for all individuals availing of consular services.In addition to card payments, the Consulate is launching an online payment portal, providing clients with the flexibility to make payments from the comfort of their own homes. Press Release 21 June 2023 Staten Island Celebrates First Philippine Independence Day Event The Philippine Consulate General in New York attended the first annual Philippine Independence Day commemoration at Staten Island last 11 June 2023. Consul General and Mrs. Senen Mangalile graced the inaugural event held at the Sacred Heart School with the presence of Staten Island Borough President Vito Fosella. The event was participated in by more than 1,000 people. The day-long festivities featured Filipino food, dance, and the celebration of Filipino heritage.The celebrations were kicked off by a mass attended by 350 people at Sacred Heart Church. Local officials that attended the event, aside from the Borough President, were Staten Island District Attorney Michael McMahon and former Deputy Borough President Ed Burke. Certificates of honor to the event were presented to the organizers, the Philippine Independence Celebration of Staten Island (PICOSI) composed of leaders from 14 different Filipino organizations in Staten Island. Press Release PCGNY-____-2022 7 June 2023 PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL NEW YORK PARTICIPATES IN THE PHILIPPINE FLAG RAISING CEREMONY IN BAYONNE CITY, NEW JERSEY For the first time in the city of Bayonne, the Philippine flag was raised at the city hall grounds on 1 June 2023 to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence. Deputy Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in New York Adrian Cruz and wife Citadel Cruz along with NYPCG representatives and Filipino American well-wishers attended the simple rites led by Bayonne City Mayor Jimmy Davis. Mayor Davis, in his remarks, expressed the city’s gratitude to the contribution of thousands of Filipino-Americans to the city of Bayonne. Council Member-at-Large Loyal Booker paid tribute to the fallen Filipino and American soldiers and civilians who fought as allies for freedom. Deputy Consul General Cruz praised the Filipino American community for honoring the rich heritage of the Philippines and for leading Philippine Independence Day celebrations in the United States. Press Release PCGNY-012-2023 8 May 2023 PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL NEW YORK PARTICIPATES IN CHARM OF ASIA The Philippine Consulate General in New York successfully co-organized and participated in The Charm of Asia May Extravaganza New York 2023 at Tangram Mall in Flushing, New York on 06 and 07 May 2023.  The two-day festival was held in commemoration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and offered a glimpse of the art and culture of various Asian countries. New York elected officials led by NYS Senator John Liu and representatives from the Consulates General of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand graced the opening ceremonies.   Consul General Senen T. Mangalile delivered his welcome remarks, noting that at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, undue negative attention was showered on the members of the AAPI community leading to incidents of anti-Asian hate.
