PH Consulate in New York Apprises Fil-Am Media on Upcoming Programs and Key Initiatives

NEW YORK CITY, 15 August 2025 – The Philippine Consulate General in New York hosted its third quarter Media Hour on 14 August 2025 at the Philippine Center in New York to brief members of the Filipino-American press on upcoming activities in cultural promotion, community engagement, trade and investment, and tourism.
Consul General Senen T. Mangalile announced the upcoming 17th Sinehan sa Konsulado on 19-20 August, and the next Filipinnovation forum, “The Juan Guide to Business: Filipinnovation—From Vision to Six Figures,” on 28 August. He outlined the activities for the Filipino-American History Month in October, including a Philippine fashion design showcase, a fireside chat with Filipino-American film professionals, a short-film screening in cooperation with New York University, and Handog sa Hapag, a curated fine dining experience. He also noted that preparations are underway for the 2026 commemoration of the 80th anniversary of PH–US diplomatic relations.
Additionally, Consul General Mangalile reported that deportation cases within the Consulate’s jurisdiction remain minimal, and assured that each is closely monitored to protect the rights and welfare of affected nationals.
Philippine Trade and Investment Center-New York (PTIC-NY) Commissioner Alma F. Argayoso cited the Philippines’ sustained economic growth, record-high approved investments, and initiatives to expand the presence of Philippine products in the US market, including ongoing discussions with US counterparts on recent tariff measures.
Philippine Department of Tourism-New York (PDOT) Attaché Maria Corazon Jorda-Apo highlighted the continued increase of US visitor arrivals to the Philippines, with the country earning global recognition as the world’s best dive destination and for its award-winning island tourism.
Meanwhile, Social Security System (SSS) Representative Rigor V. Pantollano outlined new member benefits, including reduced loan interest rates, the launch of a calamity loan program, and a scheduled multi-year pension increase.
The Media Hour reaffirmed the Philippine Consulate’s partnership with the Filipino-American media in promoting Philippine interests and amplifying programs and initiatives that benefit Filipino communities across the Northeastern United States. END
