PH Consulate General in New York Celebrates Filipino Creativity at 10th Marry Me at Marriott Gala

Pasay City, Philippines, 20 July 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in New York proudly joined the 10th Marry Me at Marriott Gala on Friday, 19 July, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Newport World Resorts, Pasay City. Organized by Marriott Bonvoy in partnership with FILIPINXT, the event celebrated the exceptional talent and artistry of Filipino designers.

Consul General Senen T. Mangalile represented the Philippine Consulate General in New York at the gala. “As Consul General of the Philippines in New York, part of my mission is to promote Filipino culture, identity, and heritage. Filipino creatives have so much to offer. “We deeply believe that the time is ripe for Filipino artists, designers, and innovators to claim their rightful place in the world,” said Consul General Mangalile in his message.

The Philippine Consulate General’s invitation to the gala followed its successful collaboration with FILIPINXT for its maiden show in New York City on 5 May 2024, which also featured Marry Me at Marriott. This event, which was led and run by Filipinos, highlighted the talents of Filipino designers and emphasized the significance of bridging Philippine creativity with the global market.

To celebrate its 10th edition, Marry Me at Marriott featured designers Bessie Besana, Veejay Floresca, Hannah Kong, Axel Que, and Wilson Limon, representing New York, Los Angeles, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, respectively. The event provided a prestigious platform for up-and-coming designers to showcase their work, emphasizing the commitment to both global and local or “glocal” creativity.

The gala, renowned for its grand displays of bridal elegance, presented a stunning array of bridal creations that blended traditional Filipino elements with contemporary designs. Guests also enjoyed a gourmet dining experience curated by Marriott Hotel Manila’s Executive Chef Meik Brammer.
