Christmas in August: Parol Shines at the Philadelphia Lantern Festival

The Philippine Consulate General in New York showcased the Philippine parol at the 2023 Philadelphia Lantern Festival at Franklin Square, Philadelphia on 10 August 2023. The festival was hosted by Historic Philadelphia, Inc. and in partnership with the Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on Asian Pacific and American Affairs.

During the opening ceremony, Consul Ricarte Abejuela III welcomed the audience to the event in the pavilion of the Franklin Square Park. In his remarks, he thanked the Historic Philadelphia Inc., the Philippine Department of Tourism New York (PDOTNY), and Mutya Filipino Dance Company. Consul General Mangalile presented tokens of appreciation to Historic Philadelphia, Inc. and Mutya Filipino Dance Company.

The Philippine Department of Tourism Office in New York shared with participants the latest tourism destinations in the country. Colorful lamps using indigenous materials, courtesy of Eangee and Ilovepinas shop were also featured at the pavilion. END
