NEW YORK CITY, 23 June 2025 — The Philippine Consulate General in New York joined the Filipino-American community in celebrating the 35th Philippine-American Friendship Day Grand Parade and Festival organized by the Philippine American Friendship Community, Inc. (PAFCOM) on 22 June 2025 in Lincoln Park, Jersey City. Jersey City is home to over 16,000 Filipino-Americans and remains a cultural stronghold for the diaspora in the U.S. Northeast.
Representing Consul General Senen T. Mangalile, Deputy Consul General Adrian Elmer S. Cruz conveyed the Consulate’s appreciation to PAFCOM and its partners for organizing the annual tradition. He paid tribute to the Filipino-American residents of New Jersey for contributing to the progress and stability of their local communities. “My request is that you continue to remain passionate in our history, culture and heritage so that you can impart this to generations of Filipino-Americans,” he said.

The PAFCOM Friendship Day event honored the longstanding alliance and friendship between the Philippines and the United States. The celebration opened with a Thanksgiving Mass, followed by a festive parade that featured dozens of Filipino-American civic and community organizations coming from the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop and Hudson County Commissioner William O’Dea, PAFCOM Grand Marshall Nora Galleros-Tino and other local officials were on hand at the opening ceremonies and walked alongside community groups at the parade in a display of solidarity and civic pride.

Festivities culminated in a cultural program at Lincoln Park that featured local Filipino and Fil-Am talents including The Voice Season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez. The 35th PAFCOM Parade and Festival is a testament to the rich cultural legacy and Bayanihan spirit that defines the Filipino-American community of the Northeastern United States. END
