29 October 2018, New York – A 3-women team from the Social Security System, (SSS) headed by the Senior Vice President of SSS, Ms. Judy Frances A. See, is holding an outreach at the Philippine Center from 26, 29, and 30 October 2018 to entertain all SSS requests, starting at 9AM and ending at 4PM.

"First, a poem must be magical,
Then musical as a seagull.
It must be a brightness moving
And hold secret a bird's flowering
It must be slender as a bell,
And it must hold fire as well"

And so it was that Consul General Claro S. Cristobal recited one of the most beautiful lines of poetry by Philippine National Artist for Literature, Jose Garcia Villa, during a night of poetry held on 24 October 2018 at the Philippine Center, in celebration of the Filipino-American History Month.

"And it is thanks to literary geniuses, such as Jose Garcia Villa - who has revolutionized poetry through his 'comma poems' and 'reverse consonance' rhyme scheme - that we continue to be invigorated in both mind and soul," stated the Consul General during his welcome remarks.

During this night of poetry, Mr. Luis H. Francia, professor of Hunter College and New York University, who learned poetry in workshops with Villa at Greenwich Village, gave a brief lecture aboutthe "Pope of Greenwich Village." He narrated how Villa disliked the use of the word "so" at all costs. Francia also remembers Villa discouraging the reading of fiction, as it confuses the poet, and rather urging his students to be single-minded and faithful to their own views.

11 October 2018, New York – The Philippine Consulate General in New York (PCGNY) welcomed to the Philippine Center yesterday Filipino Fashion Designer and milliner Tracy Dizon, who will be showing her Pinoy Pop Life Fashion collection for Spring Summer 2019 at no less than the prestigious New York Fashion Week. As the grand prize winner of the Rise Art & Design Fashion Design Competition in Fashion Week Brooklyn last Fall, Ms. Dizon featured a collection inspired by her trip to Vietnam. This time around, Ms. Dizon will be putting Filipino-inspired couture at the forefrontby featuring Filipiniana-inspired designs and indigenous fabrics.

11 October 2018, New York – The Philippine Consulate General in New York (PCGNY) welcomed to New York the all-Pinoy team behind Epik Studios, a modern mixed-media creative hubpromoting Filipino arts and culture. Paul Basinillo, the Chief Creative Officer, and artists Dennis Crisostomo and Jim Jimenez, paid a courtesy call on Consul General Claro Cristobal on 03 October 2018 at the Philippine Center. During the visit, "Team Epik" presented the Consul General with some of its best-selling titles, likeRepublika, Bernardo Carpio, and Osyana.
