(Photo by Ms. Ruth Galiza) The Philippine Consulate General in New York celebrated the achievements of 39 Filipino and Filipino-American graduates from colleges and universities across the ten states under Post’s jurisdiction in two ceremonies held in New York and Cambridge, Massachusetts. On 18 May 2024, Post held the 11th PGrad at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center, where 12 Filipino and Filipino-American graduates were given certificates of recognition and medals of excellence.  Among them, three individuals received special recognition for graduating with Latin honors, with two achieving summa cum laude and one cum laude. Pinoy Graduation 2024, held on 20 May 2024, recognized 27 graduates of Harvard University for their academic achievements. Mangalile (left) warmly welcomes Ms. Samantha Kyle Catantan (right), the Philippine representative fencer for the 2024 Paris Olympics, at the Philippine Center in New York City on 17 May 2024. On 17 May, Consul General Senen T. Mangalile proudly welcomed Samantha Kyle Catantan, a Filipina fencer representing the country at the 2024 Summer Olympics, to the Philippine Center in New York City.Ms. Catantan recently qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics during the Asia-Oceania Zonal Olympic Qualifier held at Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, in April 2024. She has made history as the first Filipino fencer to qualify for the Olympics in 32 years and the first woman in the country’s history.During the courtesy call, Ms. Catantan shared her inspiring journey from humble beginnings in free fencing classes offered in her barangay in Quezon City to achieving Olympic status.
