PRESS RELEASE 22 AUGUST 2023 PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF ILOCOS NORTE (PGIN) CALLS ON THE CONSUL GENERAL On Tuesday, 22 August 2023, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), led by Provincial Tourism Officer Ainree B. Raquel, called on Consul General Senen T. Mangalile at the Philippine Consulate General in New York to share the provincial government’s initiatives in tourism and investment within the United States with the goal of enhancing Ilocos Norte's economic prospects.In a meeting with consulate officials, Mr. Raquel shared the PGIN's goals to encourage Filipino-Americans to travel to Ilocos Norte and to promote the province as a promising investment hub. Food and agriculture, tourism infrastructure, renewable energy, business process outsourcing (BPO), and traditional crafts are among PGIN's investment priority areas. As part of the promotion, a photo exhibit featuring images of Ilocos Norte is displayed at the Philippine Center lobby. The exhibit will be on display until 14 September 2023. END

Philippine Consulate General in New York successfully concludes 2023 Sinehan sa Konsulado

PRESS RELEASE 31August 2023 Philippine Consulate General in New York Successfully Concludes 2023 Sinehan sa Konsulado The Philippine Consulate General in New York successfully concluded its 2023 Sinehan sa Konsulado, which opened on 29 August 2023 with the screening of the film"Rescue in the Philippines: Refuge from the Holocaust" which was screened in partnership with the American Jewish Committee in New York. The documentary film is about the moral heroism of a few powerful Filipinos who saved the lives of 1,300 Jewish men, women, and children in Nazi Europe in the days before World War II. Russell Hodge and Cynthia Scott-Johnson directed the film.The second night of 2023 Sinehan sa Konsulado took place on 30 August 2023, and featured four short films. These were “The Houseguest” and “Very Merry Mahusay” by Francis Manuel Abbey, “Usapin sa Bayan” by Jose Ma. Caparas, and “Inconvenience” by Seth Imperial. The film screening was followed by a discussion moderated by Michaela Ternasky-Holland, an Emmy, Webby, and Sheffield Doc/Fest award-winning creative, and an XR or "metaverse" storyteller who was recently named one of the 100 Original Voices of XR.Members of the audience enjoyed both screening nights and remarked that they are looking forward to next…

On Thursday, 17 August 2023, Consul General Senen T. Mangalile officiallyb received the commemorative pieces at the LEGO Flagship Store at 5th Avenue, New York. The Philippine-themed Minifigures were turned over by store manager Jeffrey McAndrew and Filipino-American supervisor, Michael Jazmin. “As part of our continuing commemoration of our 125th Anniversary as a nation, we are happy that LEGO is paying homage to this Philippine milestone, thereby honoring the global Filipino,” said Consul General Senen T. PRESS RELEASE 09 August 2023 Sentro Rizal New York Brings Mars Ravelo's works to the U.S. East Coast In celebration of “Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa” (National Language Month) the Philippine Consulate General in New York and Sentro Rizal New York bring Filipino Pop Culture to the public through a mobile exhibit presenting the iconic works of a prolific writer, artist, and illustrator - who is often referred to as the "King of Philippine Komiks” - Mars Ravelo.This is the first time that a collection of Mars Ravelo’s works is being featured abroad.Launched at Bergenfield Public Library on Wednesday, 09 August 2023, the exhibit is entitled, “Pagdama sa Diwang Pilipino sa Pamamagitan ng Wikang Filipino sa Komiks” (Sensing Filipino Consciousness through Filipino Language in Comics).
