Public Advisory: On Alleged Insufficient Postage for Return Envelopes Containing Ballots of Overseas Voters in the United States

Public Advisory 029-202212 April 2022 ON ALLEGED INSUFFICIENT POSTAGE FOR RETURN ENVELOPES CONTAINING BALLOTS OF OVERSEAS VOTERS IN THE UNITED STATES The Philippine Consulate General in New York has been made aware of a social media post that is circulating alleging that a foreign service post in the United States had sent out election packets to registered voters containing return envelopes with insufficient postage. The said social media post claimed that as a result of the insufficient postage, envelopes containing ballots would not be delivered. The same post irresponsibly claimed undelivered ballots would be substituted. Unfortunately, said post did not provide any proof for us to look into said claim. We would like to assure our kababayan that election packets and the return envelopes containing ballots that were sent to them have sufficient postage. We went twice to the Post Office—on Monday afternoon before we mailed the initial batch of ballots and again on Tuesday morning—to have the election packets and return envelopes weighed to ensure these have the correct stamps. We are committed to ensuring that all qualified members of the Filipino Community get to exercise their right to vote. Public Advisory 024-202210 April 2022 UPDATE ON THE ELECTION EQUIPMENT AND PARAPHERNALIA The Philippine Consulate General in New York would like to inform members of the Filipino Community that boxes containing election paraphernalia that arrived at the FedEx Facility in Memphis from Alaska today have departed said location. The Consulate is hoping said shipment will be delivered as soon as possible so that it could start the overseas voting process that has been delayed as a result of logistical difficulties encountered by the Commission on Elections.

Public Advisory 019-20227 April 2022 STATUS OF OF ELECTION MATERIALS FOR THE 2022 NATIONAL POLLS The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines informs the public that Vote Counting Machines, overseas ballots, and other election materials intended for the forthcoming national elections in the Philippines are still in transit and have not yet arrived in New York.The Consulate has been informed that the Vote Counting Machines and other election paraphernalia that were shipped by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) from Manila are in Alaska but are expected to arrive within the week.We issued an advisory about this delay and the postponement of the scheduled final testing and sealing of the Vote Counting Machines yesterday.We wish to emphasize to the public that the Consulate is committed to ensuring the proper conduct of the overseas elections and in protecting the outcome.We have been strongly promoting overseas voter registration and awareness about this year's national elections.
