Advisory No. 4-2021: Winter Storm Watch In Effect Beginning Tonight, 31 January 2021

ADVISORY No. 4-2021 31 January 2021 WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT BEGINNING TONIGHT, 31 JANUARY 2021 The Philippine Consulate General in New York wishes to inform the public that the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch beginning 7PM tonight, 31 January 2021 to 6AM of Tuesday, 02 February 2021, with the heaviest snowfall expected during 01 February 2021. Much of the tri-state area could see between 6 and 12 inches of snow. The Philippine Consulate advises the community to take the necessary precautions. As of today, there are no plans to suspend consular operations for tomorrow, 01 February 2021, although this may change depending on the announcements of the New York City local government on the prevailing weather conditions. The safety of our kababayans and our staff are paramount. In case of work suspension, clients with cancelled appointments will be given priority accommodation for later dates. Press Release 22 January 2021 PR-PPG-002-2021 PH Consul General in New York Completes Tour of Duty 22 January 2021, New York – Consul General Petronila P. Garcia completes her tour of duty at the Philippine Consulate General in New York today and retires from the foreign service after faithfully and ably serving the country and our people for more than 40 years. Consul General Garcia's successful and productive career as diplomat started in 1978 when she joined the Department of Foreign Affairs. Prior to her assignment in New York, she served as the Philippine Ambassador to Canada from January 2014 to September 2020, becoming the first female Philippine Ambassador to Canada since diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1949. She also served as the Philippine Ambassador to Israel from 2007 to 2011 and the first woman Ambassador assigned by the Philippines to an Arab country, the Arab Republic of Egypt, with concurrent jurisdiction over Sudan from 2004 to 2007. As a young foreign service officer, she served in different capacities in other foreign service posts, as well as in the Home Office in Manila. ADVISORY No. 3-2021 22 January 2021 IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS TO PH TRAVEL AND QUARANTINE RESTRICTIONS The Philippine Consulate General in New York wishes to inform the public of the following important amendments relating to Philippine travel and quarantine restrictions that seek to address the public health threats posed by the Covid-19 variants: FOREIGN PASSENGERS will CONTINUE TO BE PROHIBITED from entering the Philippines until 31 January 2021 if they are coming from the countries/territories covered by the entry restrictions relating to the Covid-19 variants, including the UNITED STATES, or have been to any or more of these countries within 14 days prior to their arrival. FILIPINO CITIZENS, including dual citizens, may enter the Philippines. They shall be tested upon arrival and shall be quarantined until the result of a subsequent test administered on the fifth day is released. After which said person who yield a negative result from Covid-19 tests shall be endorsed to their local government units of destination who shall then strictly monitor the remainder of the 14-day quarantine through their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams. Garcia received today a donation of 2,000 face masks and 200 face shields from the National Federation of Filipino American Associations-New York (NaFFAA-NY), represented by State chair Laura Garcia, and Fiesta in America, represented by its president Fernando Mendez. These PPE were solicited by NaFFAA-NY and Fiesta in America from the New York City Mayor's Office for the use of the Filipino-American community.  The donated items will be distributed to Filipinos and clients coming to the Philippine Center who need face mask or face shield.Since the reopening of the Consulate on 12 June 2020 after the lifting of the lockdown in NYC, the wearing of face mask inside the Philippine Center has been made mandatory as advised by health authorities to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. ADVISORY No. 1-2021 1 January 2021 PUBLIC ADVISORY ON INCLUSION OF UNITED STATES IN PH TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS Please be urgently advised that Foreign Passengers are PROHIBITED from entering the Philippines effective 3 January 2021, 12:01 AM until 15 January 2021, if they are coming from the UNITED STATES, or have been to the US within 14 days prior to their arrival. If already in transit and will arrive before 3 January 2021, 12:01 AM, a FOREIGN NATIONAL may be admitted into the Philippines but shall be required to undergo an absolute facility-based 14-day quarantine period, notwithstanding a negative RT-PCR test result. FILIPINO CITIZENS, including dual citizens, will be allowed to enter the Philippines at any time but they shall be required to undergo an absolute facility-based 14-day quarantine period, notwithstanding a negative RT-PCR test result.
