ADVISORY No. 32 16 December 2020 WINTER STORM WATCH FOR WEDNESDAY, 16 DECEMBER INTO THURSDAY, 17 DECEMBER 2020 The Philippine Consulate General in New York wishes to inform the public that the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch beginning Wednesday, 16 December, at 2:00pm with snowfall expected starting at around 3:00pm and becoming increasingly heavy into the evening. The heaviest snow is expected to be from Wednesday late evening until Thursday morning, eventually tapering off Thursday afternoon. The Consulate advises the community to take the necessary precautions. As of today, there are no plans to suspend consular operations for 16 and 17 December, although this may change depending on the announcements of the New York City local government on the prevailing weather conditions. The safety of our kababayans and our staff are paramount. In case of work suspension, clients with cancelled appointments will be given priority accommodation for later dates. Please monitor our official Face Book page and website for any announcements on work suspensions.

(Photo by NYPCG) New York, December 9.- The Filipino community in New York and the entire US Northeast officially started their Christmas celebration with the lighting of the colorful parols and the Simbang Gabi sa Konsulado (Night Mass) at the Philippine Center in New York City on 3 December 2020. Every year, the Philippine Center decorates its windows and lobby with parols (traditional Christmas lanterns) and handcrafted items to bring the spirit of the joyful Filipino Christmas to the Big Apple. The Simbang Gabi, on the other hand, is a nine-day series of masses leading up to Christmas and traditionally celebrated in the hours before dawn. Consul General Petronila P. Garcia led the ceremonial lighting of the first of nine symbolic parols. One parol will be lit every evening, for nine days of the traditional Simbang Gabi sa Konsulado. The campaign began on 25 November, and will end on 12 December.  Orange face masks were also given away to clients during the first day of the campaign.In addition to the masks, information on the campaign along with orange-themed giveaways have been placed at the Philippine Center’s entrance in order to increase public awareness about the 18-day campaign to end VAW.As studies have shown that incidents of gender-based violence increased during the COVID-19 pandemic,[1] the theme, “VAW-free Community Starts With me,” is particularly relevant this year. ADVISORY No. 31 27 November 2020 EXEMPTIONS FROM THE TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF VISA-FREE PRIVILEGES The Philippine Consulate General in New York (PCGNY) wishes to inform our kababayans that pursuant to Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 85, dated 26 November 2020, and with reference to Republic Act No. 6768, as amended (Balikbayan Program), the following shall be exempted from the temporary suspension of visa-free privileges starting 07 December 2020:Filipino citizens’ foreign spouses and children, regardless of age, who are traveling with them; andFormer Filipino citizens, together with their foreign spouses and children, regardless of age, who are traveling with them;The entry of the above-mentioned foreign nationals shall be subject to the following conditions:(a) They must be nationals permitted/allowed to enter the country visa-free under Executive Order No. 408[1], series of 1960;(b) They must have a pre-booked quarantine facility;(c) They must have a pre-booked COVID-19 testing at a laboratory operating at the airport; and(d) They are subject to the maximum capacity of inbound passengers at the port of entry and during the date of entry.Further, the entry of the above-mentioned foreign nationals shall be subject to the implementing guidelines to be issued by the…

(Photo by NYPCG) 16 November 2020, New York City – The Philippine Consulate General in New York (PCGNY) held its second to the last Consulate Saturday of the year on 14 November 2020. A total of 76 (seventy-six) applications were processed.   In addition to the usual consular services, the SSS desk was also open to entertain inquiries on pension and other benefits. To enforce physical distancing measures and to minimize the risk of infection, PCGNY requires clients to book an appointment by visiting https://newyorkpcg.org/our-services/online-appointment-system. Walk-ins are no longer entertained. While the rest of the Consular Outreach missions for 2020 have been postponed to protect the health and safety of our kababayans and personnel, PCGNY intends to restore its Consular Outreach program next year, should conditions allow.
